Amazing dinner and great service. The goat & pear ravioli was fantastic and my Ossobuco was incredibly tender and delicious, veal w/panko breading was also delicious but needed lemon and a little salt added. We had our server recommend/surprise us with desserts and he did not disappoint! The puffed pastry w/chantilly cream and the cooked cream and pine nut cake were light and delicious. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant!
Tipical Milanese restaurante, near the fashion streets. During Xmas a lovely De natale menu - from șofran Milanese risotto to wine, tractional sausages and steak 🥩 with sexy potatoes 🍠 chips. Good vegetarian and vegan options available 😋
The food is good but not the best for that price range in Milan. For example the ‘cotoletta milanese’ was overcooked and dry! The artichokes (alla giudia) are excellent! The service and the waiter was very kind as well. Paid around €50 p.p drinks included (1 bottle decent red wine + 1 glass of wine+ 1 digestive).
Based on the nice reviews on google I wanted to try some of the things on their menu.
The waiters were rude and told me that they were fully booked, although I got there at 19.30 PM, when they opened and the whole restaurant was empty.
I ate something at the restaurant across the street and by 21.00 PM there were still a lot of tables available at Osteria Vecchia Lira so I really dont get the “fully booked” and disrespectul attitude.
I don’t think I look like a homeless person or something and it is the first time in my life I was not allowed to enter some place. Based on the waiters attitude towards me I cannot give this place more than 1 star.
La Vecchia Lira in the Moscova district offers a delightful blend of typical Italian and Milanese cuisine. While the prices lean towards medium-high, the quality justifies the expense. The Risotto alla Milanese con Ossobuco is a standout, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to authentic flavors. The Cotoletta is another must-try, reflecting the culinary this establishment is known for. The service is swift, and the staff's friendliness adds to the overall inviting atmosphere. Considering its popularity, making a reservation is advisable for a seamless dining experience. It would be great have some digestives especially after a generous table bill.
La Vecchia Lira was quite a pleasant gastronomical experience. On the other hand, the staff was not super friendly, was there just to do its job and not prpvide that much of a good experience.
The mixed salami, sausage and prosciutto plank is a must, very good quality. The costolletta was very very big and tasty! Despite the size I found it a bit too expensive for what it was. The tiramisu was not fresh, thus a bit tasteless. The dishes the other people were eating seemed quite good too, especially the risotto.
Great chianina carpaccio and definitely a meat place!
Family run, great location!
A frequent favourite
Absolutely fantastic service. The place was quiet but every single table was reserved. Despite this, we got squeezed in. We weren't rushed but by the time our table left, there wasn't a seat available and people were waiting. Always a good sign!
We ordered the veal in panko breadcrumbs and a steak which had bacon wrapped around it. Both were absolutely delicious and decent value for money. I would definitely visit again.
